Timekeeping & Payroll
Welcome to our Timekeeping and Payroll Information page. Employees can find key details about time recording, pay schedules, overtime policies, and more here. Accurate timekeeping ensures that all employees are fairly compensated for their work, while payroll processes are designed to be efficient and transparent.
Timekeeping
Non-exempt employees are required to log accurately:
- Start and end times for work.
- Meal breaks, split shifts, and any departures.
Your department head must approve overtime. Falsifying time records or recording time for others is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action.
Payroll Schedule
Employees are paid every 2 weeks (or as directed by the County Commission). If a payday falls on a holiday, paychecks will be issued on the last workday before the holiday.
Pay Policies
- Pay Advances: Advances on unearned wages are not permitted.
- Pay Corrections: If you notice a payroll error, contact the County Clerk immediately for correction.
- Deductions & Setoffs: Required deductions (taxes, benefits, etc.) are taken from each paycheck. Setoffs may occur for debts owed to the County.
Overtime Pay
- Non-exempt employees earn 1.5x their regular rate for hours worked over 40 in a week.
- Deputies and Jailers earn overtime for hours exceeding 86 within a 14-day work period.
- Paid/unpaid leave and holidays do not count toward overtime calculations.
- All overtime must be pre-approved by a department head.
Weekend Pay
Memorial Living Center employees receive an additional $1/hour for work on Saturdays and Sundays. Please note that shifts starting Friday night and ending Saturday morning do not qualify for weekend pay.
